What is the Driving PA Forward Initiative?

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)’s Driving PA Forward Initiative incentivizes the installation, operation, and maintenance of EV charging equipment, including: Level 2 charging stations and Direct current fast chargers (DCFCs) for light-duty EVs. The goal of the program is to improve air quality and support EV adoption in Pennsylvania.

Program Highlights:
  • Level 2: Rebates will be provided as the lesser of two options: a maximum dollar amount or a percentage of project costs.
  • DC Fast Charging: Applicants may receive up to $750,000 of available funding.
What are the Rebate Amounts?
  • Level 2: Rebates cover 50% – 80% of total project costs or $3,000 – $4,000 per plug, whichever is less.
  • DC Fast Charging: Rebates cover up to 65% of total project costs and up to $250,000 per project.
What are the Program Requirements?
  • Level 2: Stations must be installed for public use on Government and Non-Government properties. Installing for non-public use must be Workplaces and Multifamily Properties.
  • DC Fast Charging: Must be used for Public Charging.
